Rainbow Weaver
Rainbow Weaver (by Linda Elovitz Marshall, illustrated by Elisa Chavarri) is a story about a young girl called Ixchel who watches her mother weave thread into fabric ‘as beautiful as a rainbow’ – and decides that she wants to do that too. This Mayan weaving tradition, which goes back thousands of years, is something special. Ixchel’s mother however, is too busy preparing her weavings for market, so Ixchel gets creative with discarded colorful plastic bags. The text is in both Spanish and English and the illustrations are simply stunning. Such an engaging book about the potential of a creative spirit. Prices start at $18.95USD.
