Partners for a Cure Foundation was founded by Kim Goebel in 2001 who was undergoing cancer treatment at the time. After observing many mothers agonising over how they were going to tell their children about their illness, Kim decided to create the Kimmie Cares doll to comfort children and ‘to bring their fears and feelings to the surface using play therapy, explaining their parent’s illness and subsequent hair loss’. In conjunction with the book, the Kimmie Care dolls aim to help parents with cancer and its effects to their children. All proceeds from the sale of the Kimmie Cares doll are distributed to individuals across the USA with cancer, who need financial assistance. There are 7 dolls available in a range of ethnicities and skintones and prices start at $39.99USD for the doll and the book set.
