The Prettie! Girls
The vision of Prettie Girls is to provide children with dolls that represent their individual backgrounds, stories, styles, goals and inspirations. Prettie stands for Positive, Respectful, Enthusiastic, Truthful, Talented, Inspiring and Excellent – all words that describe the dolls co-founder Stacey McBride-Irby. Stacey is a former Mattel® designer, who created Mattel®’s first African-American ‘So In Style®’ dolls. There is a variety of dolls in each of the product lines offered which include ‘Tween Scene’, Prettie Girls NYC, Dream Babies and the original One World Project collection.
The dolls in the Tween Scene line are a stand out and are quite tall for a fashion doll – 16 inches. The outfits are cute, and the full articulation of the Tween Scene doll joints make her suitable for all of the non-delicate and rough house play that advertising execs don’t seem to realise girls and their dolls get up too. There are 6 dolls available in the Tween Scene range, including ‘Valencia’ whose cute blue tracksuit rates a mention. Her claim to fame is being ‘healthy and strong’ and eating fresh vegetables. Great affordable dolls with a great message. Prices start from $23USD.
