Face Atelier Ultra Foundation Pro

Face Atelier was founded by the mega successful Debbie Bondar because she couldn’t find a foundation that matched her skin tone – and simultaneously, was overwhelmed by the multitude of choices in the market. A familiar story.

We found out about Face Atelier by keeping a watchful eye on Billy B’s kit – so we decided to try it for ourselves. The Ultra Foundation is described by Face Atelier as ‘Race neutral’ and ‘Age neutral’, so we were immediately interested.

As for the results, for dance – it’s perfect. It is lightweight and breathable, and Face Atelier is correct when they say no primer is necessary (though we did use a moisturiser). We used a damp dense latex-free sponge to apply (combination to oily skin), and because it is lightweight it is easy to build without a cakey look. As it is on the slightly dewy side, it may suit dry skin better, and an added bonus is that it doesn’t settle into fine lines – so mature skin will love it too. Although there is not much in the way of transfer with this foundation, the lovely slight dewy look you have in the morning can become greasy (particularly if you have oily skin). If you have oily skin, set with your favourite powder and blot/touch up during the day. If you do this, you can get a full day out of this foundation which is also vegan and cruelty free. Like Ben Nye, it’s on the upper end in terms of price, with the Women of Colour Palette starting at $229USD. Individual 0.68Oz bottles start from $36USD. You don’t need much of this product for real coverage, so your money is well spent.
